The 2013 Chevrolet Volt electric plug-in hybrid is not only different than other hybrids; it’s also in a different level. Unlike other hybrids which use its gasoline engine to power up its car, the Volt runs purely on electric current. Once the battery pack is depleted, the Volt’s gasoline engine kicks on to run a generator, powering the electric motors and helping recharge the batteries. The Volt has an estimated fuel economy of 35 mpg city and 40 mpg highway allowing you to drive up to 380 miles with a full tank of gas.
The Volts interior which is able to fit a total of 4 people is sure to catch your attention. It is covered in bright white and dark accented plastics and has touch-sensitive controls for the audio and climate-control functions. It also has two 7-inch LCD screens in the middle, one serving as a tool to show the speedometer, fuel, and range gauges. The other screen displays the electric motor/battery operation as well as the available navigation screen if you choose to get it.
The Chevy Volt not only receives good fuel economy, it also received 5 stars in overall safety score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. forbes.
